Tapestries 10.0 Special Anniversary Edition

In celebration of the program's tenth anniversary, Threads Dance Project presents Tapestries 10.0 - Anniversary Edition. The Tapestries program has become an annual tradition—amplifying new choreographic voices, with a special emphasis on female-identifying and BIPOC creators. To honor this milestone, Tapestries 10.0 not only elevates two new emerging choreographers but welcomes back two previous creators from the program’s ten-year run.

Emerging choreographers Lily Conforti and Brianna Johnson have each created new works for the company. Lily Conforti’s piece, Big MILK, is an exploration into and criticism of the US government's inability to make systemic changes and the ineffective ways that they have thrown cheese at a problem. Brianna Johnson’s, Deliberate Hold, is a contemporary modern dance work exploring the profound resilience found in the intentional choice to be present and actively practice connection and care.

Returning choreographer, Gabby Abrams will remount her piece, Release, after being interrupted by the pandemic—revisiting the work with new eyes and new bodies. Rae Fox-Charles, a multi-year Tapestries alumni, will share a new work, entitled, Tracings of Traces, which considers the lingering patterns of attachment and dysfunction throughout an imagined figure’s romantic history.

Tapestries 10.0 - Anniversary Edition tickets are available for purchase now!

Tapestries 9.0

Tapestries 9.0 continues Threads Dance Project’s tradition of highlighting new choreographic voices. This year’s production features original works by Colin Edwards, Rachel Lieberman, and Hannah MacKenzie-Margulies

The program also includes Karen L. Charles’ repertory work Let America Be America, inspired by the chant “Make America Great Again” and the idea that America has never been great for everyone. Through a series of spoken word and dance vignettes, the piece highlights the joys and struggles of “the America that is” and “the America that could be.”

Tapestries 9.0 reflects Threads Dance Project’s commitment to showcasing different viewpoints and stories through movement.
